"As residents and citizens of the United States in 2020, we are living in a society that places today’s profits over tomorrow’s future. There are three chemical sterilization plants in the state of Georgia that have been releasing a dangerous chemical -ethylene oxide- into the air supply of the local communities they inhabit for over 20 years. I have visited the plants located in Covington, Smyrna, and Sweetwater and researched local initiatives to spread awareness of this ongoing issue. Newcomers to these cities are hesitant to move into the communities and current residents are living in fear of the safety of their children. This issue is ongoing as the current pandemic is swaying the local governments to reopen the plants. This is a deal with the devil waiting to happen.."
