Andre Chevalier is an Atlanta-based fine art photographer, currently studying for a BFA in Photography at Georgia State University. His current works explore the deconstruction of the stigmas and stereotypes of toxic Black Masculinity and its mental health effects on Black men, while using his own struggles with depression, anxiety and PTSD heightened by a traumatic armed robbery experience, through expressions of vulnerability as a Black man navigating the societal rules of Black masculinity.

"Myspace is a series of work that explores how I use space as a method of coping with mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, from the perspective of a Black man who has experienced severe trauma. My work is concerned with the parameters of toxic societal rules of Black masculinity, by destigmatizing mental health in the Black community and through expression of vulnerability."
