Artist Statement

This series of work is about being unapologetically yourself. Even if it is scary of weird or makes other people uncomfortable. I make these portraits of people wearing whatever they want to wear be it a prom dress or a Lolita dress, these collaborative shoots sole purpose is to make my model feel comfortable being themselves. Being apart of the alternative community myself, I meet so many people who are able to express themselves fully through their clothing. With these images, I am accenting a group of people who don’t get much visibility. My images aim to ask questions about gender normalities and what it means to be “normal.” Mainly, the images serve as empowerment for women and the LGBTQ community, telling them that they can always be whoever the hell they want to be.
