Artist Statement

This past year the world has felt unrecognizable, twisted and colder than I remember. In part due to the ongoing pandemic, and in part due to pivotal time in my life as I near graduation, I have found myself feeling more anxious and isolated than ever before. I spend almost all of my time at home indoors; my apartment now feels like a waiting room. Everyday monotony has begun to feel surreal, as it has become so much more prevalent in my life. My project, After Hours, documents this complicated set of emotions I feel towards my home and the everyday experience. Warm lights shining through the windows and starry skies have begun to feel melancholic and bittersweet. The distinction between day and night has lost its importance to me, washing together into a twilight, where I wait for time to pass me by.
